This article is about the team that competed in Formula Virtual from 2013 to 2019. For the team that competed from 2020 onwards, please see Scuderia Meteor.

Meteor International was a Formula Virtual team which was most recently based in the United States. The team was founded and led by Kazuki Armos.

Origins

Ownership

Kazuki Armos

Peugeot

Following a host of rumours during the 2013 season, Armos sold the team to Peugeot who transformed Meteor into a full Peugeot works team for 2014.

In October, it was announced that Peugeot had sold a 2% stake in the team to French broadcasting house, TF1. The deal was reportedly worth around £800,000.

Return to Armos

Sale to Friedman Group

In October 2015, Kazuki Armos sold the team to Pennsylvania Friedman Group. The sale saw Armos step down as Team Principal as he was replaced by Richard Peluso; John Maynard was hired as Chief Technology Officer. Despite the sale, the name Meteor Motorsport was kept.

Peugeot factory team (2014)

Following Peugeot purchasing the team to make it a full works outfit for 2014, they made a number of signings from other teams. Former Franklin Head of Aerodynamics, Maurice Hardwick, was lured to the team with an offer he 'could not refuse', as well as former Team 23 Deputy Designer Alan Bates and a host of technical staff from the defunct BMW Zyla team.
