The 2020 Virtual 24 Hours of the Nurburgring was the 1st Annual Virtual 24 Hour Race, taking place on 12-13 December 2020. The event was the first of it's kind, created by the Automobile Club Virtuel to act as a final event of virtual motorsport's calendar year, and to celebrate the past season.
The race featured bespoke Prototype cars in the headline category, alongside two classes dedicated to production-based GT cars - GT Le Mans for all-professional driver lineups, and GT Daytona, with amateur drivers. The overall race win was taken by Diego Campos, Nikolai Milkovich and Jean Mattson, driving a Tauro V8 Prototype for Campos Motorsport, who completed 198 laps. In second place, only 28 seconds behind, were Adrien Simon, Rossendo Werner and Karl Beckenbauer in a Porsche RS Hybrid, and in the final podium placing was the Downton MCL001 Hybrid driven by Nathaniel Powers, Kip Maxwell and Sam Hudson.
Concept
The race was devised as an event to conclude the calendar year, coinciding with the European off-season, to celebrate the year in virtual motorsport, and as a unique challenge within virtual motorsport.
The inaugural running of the Virtual 24 Hour took place on the Nurburgring Nordschleife, with the German circuit awarded the first running of the event by popular vote within the FVA, marking this as the first FVA-affiliated event to take place at the circuit since 2017. The overall winner also received the ADAC 24h Virtuelrennen trophy.

Testing
A month prior to the Virtual 24 Hour race, a three-day test was held between 11-13 November to enable teams and drivers to familiarise themselves with the circuit and set up their cars for the event. Each of the three drivers competing in a team had to take part in a single day of running, which included a night session on the third day. The fastest time overall was set by Hugh Dwyer on day two in his [[Highwind HE01], a 7 minutes, 1.050 seconds time beating Carson Davenport's day one benchmark by just under half a second.
In the GT classes, the Mercedes of Rodolfo de la Fuente led the way, while Luke Stokey's performance in the GT Daytona Honda NSX GT led the sub-category. The fastest Amateur driver across the test day was Lilly Westwood, competing in a Porsche 911 RSR-V for her eponymous team.
Post-testing balance of performance changes
Following testing, the ACV reserved the right to alter the Balance of Performance in both Prototype and the GT classes to ensure parity between competitors heading into the week of the race. However, the field spread was such that no adjustments were made.
