The Phoenix PX7 is a Formula Virtual racing car designed by Phoenix for use in the 2024 Formula Virtual World Championship, the team’s seventh season in Formula Virtual. The car was driven by Will Taylor and Ott Eskola.

History

The car was launched via a live stream on Phoenix’s social media on 11th February 2024, hosted by Team Principal Alex Easton. The launch featured interviews with Easton, Technical Director Gary Haythornthwaite, race drivers Will Taylor and Ott Eskola, and reserve drivers James Thompson and Chloe King.

For 2024, Phoenix kept an unchanged line-up of Will Taylor and Ott Eskola who had both been so impressive in 2023. The team also announced their iconic reserve driver, James Thompson, would get ‘at least three’ full race weekends across the season. Thompson was joined in his reserve driver duties by The Hive graduate Chloe King.

Phoenix's 100th V-Prix livery launch

For the first race of the season, the Australian V-Prix, Phoenix ran both cars in a special livery to celebrate their 100th V-Prix in Formula Virtual. The one-off livery was a remake of their original livery from 2018, predominantly burgundy with fluorescent yellow as the classic colours of Phoenix.

Sponsorship

Phoenix continued their title sponsorship deal with Royal Blondes for a fourth season which saw the livery featuring the white and burgundy colours of Royal along with the classic Phoenix fluo yellow. The Royal logo featured prominently on the car once more with the side pods, air box and rear wing showing off the logo, as well as a crown blended into the livery on the engine cover. Wilson Oils also had a large presence to represent the continued partnership between Phoenix and Lucas. Vibrant Boards, Platinum Estate, V Foods, Jacksons Barometrics, Beeline, Flame, TMF Advisory and T&T Welding all kept their places on the car.

Phoenix’s badge remained at the forefront of the car’s nose, with The Manchester Bee emblem keeping its place just in front of the cockpit. Downton High Performance Engines’ logo and the McLaren chevron design both remained from previous seasons. Parts suppliers EnviroMat, STOP-Tech, and Crown Logistics appeared once again. Tyre supplier Goodyear also featured on the front wing and a union jack was featured at the top of the roll hoop.
