Entries
The following constructors and drivers are currently under contract to compete in the 2025 World Championship. All teams compete with tyres supplied by Pirelli. Each team is required to enter at least two drivers, one for each of the two mandatory cars.
Team changes
After one season with Renault, both Alfa Romeo and AlphaTauri decided against continuing their deals - with Alfa Romeo returning to Ferrari power and AlphaTauri moving back to RBPT.
Aston Martin also changed engine supplier again, splitting from Ferrari and re-joining the Mercedes stable.
Driver changes
After winning the World Championship, Sergio Pérez left McLaren to fulfil a lifelong dream of driving for Ferrari - for whom he'd been a junior driver back in 2012. He swapped seats with Charles Leclerc, who joined McLaren.
7-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton announced his retirement at the end of the 2024 season. He was replaced at Mercedes by Pierre Gasly, who left Alpine after just one season as a result of an acrimonious relationship with team mate Esteban Ocon. Gasly's seat at Alpine was taken by Valtteri Bottas - the French outfit hoping his experience and calm demeanour would bring stability to the team. Bottas was replaced at Alfa Romeo by Yuki Tsunoda - the Japanese driver having been let go by Williams in favour of Oscar Piastri, who moved across from Haas after two seasons. He was replaced by Jüri Vips - who was released from his McLaren reserve role to make his Formula One debut.
2-time World Champion Fernando Alonso also decided to retire for a second time, despite a reasonably successful season with Aston Martin. As a result of their linking back up with Mercedes, they will hand Mercedes junior Frederik Vesti his race debut.
